I read about advancements in prosthetic limbs. Scientists are creating a thought-controlled leg that can climb stairs and go from sitting to standing in response to signals from nerves in a patient's stump. Researchers have also developed something called pattern recognition
(Links to an external site.), in which the prosthetics can "learn" to interpret nerve signals from patients in real time, responding directly to intentions. This will make prosthetics more useful and it will help out the people that need them. Previously, scientists have been using prosthetics that have less movement and can't do much, but the new prosthetics have more movement and can do a lot more. I think this new advancement is safe because it will only help people and if it is hurting the person they can just take it off. These prosthetics are being used, but not a lot because they are still figuring things out and fixing them. Prosthetics are taking a huge step forward.
